Spicy Goulash with Beans

If you are looking to feed a large crowd and fill them up then look no further than this Spicy Goulash with Beans.

I like to make Spicy Goulash with Beans because less meat is needed to round out the dish. Beans are so good for you and I try to cook with them multiple times a week. If you are looking for an alternative to your chili party I highly recommend Spicy Goulash with Beans.

Spicy Goulash is a great pot luck dish. The crockpot insert keeps this dish warm for a few hours. They also many crock pot insulators for taking the dish with you. I like taking dishes like this because not only are they filling but the prep work is really fast.

I originally found this recipe in my Taste of Home Healthy Cooking 2011 Annual Recipes Cookbook. I altered it a little to add more tomatoes and less spice.

Crock-Pot and Stove Top

Recipe serves: 12

Serving size: 1 cup

Total time: 5-6 hours

Let's grocery shop!

I am assuming you have salt and pepper. It is not included in pantry and spices.

Pantry & Spices

  • beef bouillon granules
  • chili powder
  • ground cumin
  • dried basil
  • dried parsley
  • red wine vinegar
  • worcestershire sauce

Grocery

  • 1 - medium onion
  • 1 - green pepper
  • 1 - pound ground beef
  • 2 - cans kidney beans 16 oz
  • 3 - cans tomatoes and green chili's 14.5 oz
  • 1 - can diced tomato 14.5 oz
  • 1 - elbow macaroni 16 oz

Tip from me

If you really like spice then buy medium or hot tomatoes and green chili’s. Sometimes I buy 2 cans of the mild and 1 can of medium. You can also add a jalapeno to increase the spice level.

Let's prep!

Let's cook!

  1. Complete the prep from the prep tab above.
  2. Add all ingredients except beef and elbow macaroni.
  3. Sprinkle the meat with salt and pepper. Heat the pan then brown the meat in a skillet breaking into small pieces; drain the drippings and add the beef to the crock-pot.
  4. Stir to combine.
  5. Place crock-pot on low for 5-6 hours
  6. Add 2 cups of uncooked elbow macaroni; cover and continue to cook for 30 minutes or until macaroni is cooked. Enjoy!
